Playa del Carmen is a popular tourist destination on Mexico’s Riviera Maya, famous for its white-sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, and a wide variety of water activities, including scuba diving. Diving in Playa del Carmen is a unique experience, as it offers the chance to explore the breathtaking Caribbean coral reefs, as well as freshwater CENOTES.
Our Playa del Carmen reef diving adventures are categorized into three sections:
- Shallow dives: Max depth of 12mts (40ft). In less than 5 minutes from the beach by boat, we’ll be able to see an abundance of marine life. Perfect for divers of any skill level.
- Tortugas deep dive: From 15 to 40mts (50-130ft), depending on the dive plan. This extensive reef area north of Playa del Carmen provides ample exploration opportunities. This drift dive usually experiences mild to strong currents. Following this, we do a shallow dive. Recommended for advanced open water divers or higher certifications.
- Mama Viña (Shipwreck): At a depth of 27 meters (90 feet) lies a purposely sunk shrimp boat trawler teeming with eels, diverse marine life, and vibrant corals. Its inclined position offers divers a thrilling sense of vertigo. Suitable for advanced open water divers or those with upper certifications.
- Equipment (Mask, regulator, wetsuit, BCD, fins).
- Boat with filled air tanks and weights.

- All year! The temperature keeps constant and only gets a little colder in the winter. However, it’s popular among experienced divers to do the seasonal Bullshark Dive that starts roughly in the middle of November to January.
- 27- 29ºC (81-84ºF)
- Meeting Point: When you book your dive, we set up a time to meet in CocoBeach to get ready.

- Boat: Once everything is prepared, we head to the boat to set up tanks, equipment, and weights.
- Let’s dive! We’ll have TWO DIVES with a time between 45 minutes to one hour. During our surface interval, we’ll have drinking water and small snacks.
