Ready for a deep dive? This cenote is a MUST! El Pit, which is part of the Sac Actun System, like Dos Ojos, is a deep sinkhole that feels like a portal to another world.
What is diving in El Pit like? It’s truly difficult to find words to describe just how spectacular this cenote is. It’s an experience so beautiful, many compare it to being in heaven.
At a depth of 12mts (60ft), we’ll experience a halocline, a breathtaking blurry effect created by the fresh water mixing with saltwater below. Once we reach 30mts (100ft), we’ll get to admire the hydrogen sulfide cloud within the fallen trees, creating an eerily beautiful effect.
After doing this dive, we’ll drive to nearby Dos Ojos for our shallower second dive.
